I work out at-sea and live on a ship for an extended period of time, usually for about 2 months, and the ocean is my backyard and home for the time I am out there. My connection to the ocean deepens, seeing the vast beauty, changes, and when lucky, a peak into the world of the life that calls the ocean home. One who looks closely and curiously will realize the ocean is deeply unknown, like the deepest parts of us, and with a keen sense of wonder and change in perspective, the unknown can be explored and understood. The ocean's waves continue to wash over each other and change form for an infinite amount of time, a time unfathomable to humans and this consistency reminds me to go with the flow and ride the ebbs and flows of life.

Clouds meet the sea 200 miles off the coast of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico.

The ocean brings energy deep into my being. As the sun rises, I prepare for a new day, however, to truly prepare is impossible as each day the ocean brings something completely new and unexpected. The sun rises over the vast, blue ocean as I experience a sense of gratitude for this new day and new beginning; a world of discovery, learning, and connection awaits as we begin this beautiful new day. Thank you, Sun, for the light you bring and for making life on Earth possible as you are the ultimate source of energy for all of us. We must find ways to thank the sun and allow the rays to radiate through our beings and shine throughout every aspect of our lives. As the sun brings us new opportunities for growth and life, we must use it to flourish. May this new day remind us of our blessings and meaning here on Earth.
